Aug. 10, 2023 - Liaoning Shinagawa Hefeng Metallurgical Material Co., Ltd., one of Shinagawa Refractories' high quality mold powder production locations in Anshan China, recently received "Excellent Supplier Award" from Nanjing Iron and Steel Company (NISCO), and was the only company to receive this honor as a mold powder supplier. 

Liaoning Shinagawa Hefeng started the supply to NISCO in 2017 and, since then, its products have been performing very well, especially for peritectic steel and medium carbon grade. During the COVID-19 crisis, the factory staff even stayed overnight at the factory to continue production and to maintain stable supply.

Liaoning Shinagawa Hefeng Metallurgical Material Co., Ltd. is a Sino-foreign joint venture specialized in R&D, design and production of mold powders. Established in April 2008, the company was jointly formed by two leading refractory suppliers: Shinagawa Refractories Co., Ltd. and Anshan Hefeng Refractory Co., Ltd. 

The capital investment is RMB 57.6 million and the registered share capital is RMB 28.8 million. The company is located in Anshan, Liaoning, and covers an area of 30,000 square meters.

The company commenced production in November 2008, and its annual production capacity has reached 20,000 tons.

All casting mold powders are designed and produced with the latest technologies licensed from Shinagawa Refractories Co., Ltd.

Major customers are large domestic steel mills such as Anshan Iron and Steel Group Corporation, Laiwu Steel, Shandong Iron and Steel Group, Jinan Iron and Steel and Iron and Maanshan Iron and Steel, and also include major Korean steel producers. The company has a market share of more than 50% in Anshan Iron and Steel Group and Shandong Iron and Steel Group. Export business covers POSCO and Hyundai Steel in South Korea as well as customers in Thailand, Australia and Brazil.

In order to provide the most suitable mold powders for different types of casters and various casting conditions, the company has developed more than 100 product lines.

The company has some 50 employees, and 19 have specialized college degree or above. These expert staff have majored in materials science such as silicate and inorganic non-metal materials, steel metallurgy, industrial analysis, machinery manufacturing, automatic control, international trade, and business management.

Throughout development, design and production management, technical engineer expats from Japan ensure the quality management same as Japanese standards.
